I’d humbly add one more thing, especially when sined against: Love back

“Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.” 1 Peter 4:8

and Proverbs 10:12 “…love covers all offenses.”

Yes, along those lines, it helps me to remember that my sins against Jesus are infinitely worse than anyone’s sins against me.

WOW! #5 is like a revelation. I know in my head that I put christ to death; that he died for my sin, but I have never put that and others criticism together. How humbling. And the truth is that I have never been criticized, even in the few times I’ve been verbally abused, any greater than that. I know it. It is completely evident. Thank you for this post. This is just another amazing aspect of the cross that I need to remember and thank God for.

I needed to be reminded that even when people bring criticism in an insensitive way, or as you put it so well, “not on a satin pillow,” I still need to be searching my heart to see the truth in it. I often dismiss it because, “obviously they’re the one with the sin issue, and surely someone so insensitive could not have anything insightful to say to ME!” Thanks for helping me remember to humble myself in these situations.
