This Woman Puts Me To Shame

After seeing this video I’ve come to realize that I officially stink at sharing the gospel. Now I can’t even use the excuse that I’m getting robbed…

  1. That’s because you don’t “share” the gospel, you PROCLAIM it.

    I stink at it too.

I wish Christians would elimintate the words share and just. They seem to minimize. I want to start a new national campaign but I’m not famous enough.

  2. Stephen Altrogge says:

    Scripture Zealot,

I agree with you, we do proclaim the gospel. But when I’m talking to a friend over coffee, don’t I in a sense, need to share it instead of proclaim it? I think we’re probably differing over words here but I’m curious what you’re thoughts are.

    Good point.

  3. Jen says:

All I can say is, “WOW.”

  4. I guess I don’t like how we use the word share as a synonym (sp?) for tell, or talk about or explain. We may explain the gospel and if they reject it we aren’t really sharing it. We share some of our food, we share something we have in common etc. It’s probably my problem more than anyone else’s because it’s not going to change anytime soon.

What a great model this woman is. I’m going to watch the video a few more times and take mental notes. Thanks for posting it.

  5. Becca says:

I think that saying that we aren’t “sharing” the gospel if someone rejects it at that moment is putting too large of a burden upon ourselves. After all, we can’t save anyone. Jesus alone can do that by God’s grace. Whether or not someone accepts or rejects the gospel at the time we share it is not our responsibility, the exact place and timing of that person’s salvation is totally out of our hands.

Thanks for sharing the video Stephen! That’s a truly feisty little old lady! :-) If only we could all display such courage!

  6. Stephen Altrogge says:

    Jeff – I hear what you’re saying.

Becca – Right on. I’m so glad that God’s the one who saves, and not me. I’d never evangelize if I was responsible…

  7. I’m not sure what the words share and proclaim have to do with our supposedly saving someone or that it’s our responsibility that they accept what we’re saying or not. That wasn’t my thought or intention. I just thought I’d share that with you.
