Perhaps it is saddest because it is life-altering for every one of us. We only know a world altered by this passage. Thankfully there is grace and a Savior.

I think that the saddest verse of that chapter is Genesis 3:9

“And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where [art] thou?”

As Matthew Henry wrote:
Those who by sin have gone astray from God should seriously consider where they are; they are afar off from all good, in the midst of their enemies, in bondage to Satan, and in the high road to utter ruin.

i like how 1st peter chapter 5 puts it.

And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

Hey Stephen!
Great post! Thank you for the reminder that we are indeed not left on our own in this sin ravaged world. Even though sometimes it may feel like we are, we can take great comfort in the fact that God will never leave us or forsake us, because He cannot forsake Himself, Christ in us is indeed our hope of glory!
