When I was part of a worship team, I appreciated that when I met visitors before the service started, I only had to talk to them for a few minutes ("Glad you're here this morning; thank you for coming; are you new in the area?" ) before I could say "Well, I have to go now because we have to start the music." Yep, I was BUSY all right. Then after the service there was always some "legitimate" (really?) worship team business to attend to, which really meant that I was staying within my CZ and talking to the people on the team. That was SO much easier than meeting new people. I love how Piper busts me with "I'm not talking clever strategy here; I'm talking you're REALLY interested." Being shy, I've learned some good tricks for talking to people, which is not a bad thing, but he's right, we should be genuinely interested in them, not just going through the motions or using it as a means to something else. Guess what I'm really afraid of is that they'll say something that stumps or scares or paralyzes me. I need to grow in this area.
Wow, I missed the last couple posts here. I wrote about being interested in 2008 (I think)… it's fantastic to hear the confirmation. Thank you, Jesus… I'm not the only one who thinks we should be just… I don't know… slightly more interested in people. :>)
FREE MUSIC FROM BOB KAUFLIN: Over at Worship Matters Bob Kauflin is giving away 100 copies of the new Hispanic Sovereign Grace Music CD, "Alli En La Cruz". Get the details here.
MEET PASTOR BRAD: Pastor Brad Towers is a church visionary. A dreamer. An experimenter. He likes doing things differently. And he just doesn't seem to get it. Read about him here.
NEW CHILDREN'S CD FROM SOVEREIGN GRACE MUSIC: Sovereign Grace Music just released their third children's album, Walking With the Wise. It's an excellent resource for teaching your children the Biblical principles found in the book of Proverbs. Get it here.
TRAILER FOR VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER: I love the Chronicles of Narnia, so I'm excited to see this trailer. Watch it here.
Good stuff as we're about to go out visiting folks with our church. They're interesting!
Yeah, Piper is always encouraging right before you're about to go out and visit people!
This is great – do you know the name of the original (complete) message? I'd like to hear it.
I think if you double click on the video, it will take you through to the original, which has the original message title.

Yep I can relate to that. I always have something I "have" to do. I'm just making excuses.
