Let’s Pray For A Revolution

by Mark Altrogge on March 5, 2012

“The great need of the Church in this and all ages is men of such commanding faith, of such unsullied holiness, of such marked spiritual vigour and consuming zeal, that they will work spiritual revolutions through their mighty praying.  Natural ability and educational advantages do not figure as factors in this matter; but a capacity for faith, the ability to pray, the power of a thorough consecration, the ability of self-littleness, an absolute losing of one’s self in God’s glory and an ever present and insatiable yearning and seeking.” –E.M. Bounds

…….

“They will work spiritual revolutions through their mighty praying.”

……..

Will you join us in a month of prayer for God to bring about a spiritual revolution?

God promises us, “The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working” (JA 5.16).  Let’s believe God makes our prayers powerful and pray for a revolution in the world and our country and our areas.  Let’s pray for God to save multitudes and do mighty things.  Let’s pray for God to revolutionize our children and churches.  Let’s pray for an outpouring of his Spirit like never before.

I recently read a book that talks about the power of habits.  Even small actions, habitually performed, can bring about huge changes in our lives.  That’s especially true of spiritual disciplines like Bible reading and prayer.  Cultivating the habit of regular prayer, even for 15 minutes a day, can reap huge benefits in our lives and the lives of others.

So for the rest of this month, if hundreds of us prayed earnestly for 10-15 minutes a day, think what God could accomplish through that.

Each Monday this month we’ll post some suggestions for prayer for that week.  Here are some suggestions for this week:

Your Kingdom Come

To ask for God’s kingdom to come is to ask that God would extend his rule on earth, particularly by saving people and bringing them under his rule.  Here are a couple suggested prayers:

Father, I pray that your kingdom would come and your will would be done on earth as it is in heaven.  I pray that your Name would be honored and praised in every place.  That you would fill the earth with the knowledge of your glory.  Father I pray that praise would ascend to your name in every place.

Please cause your gospel to go forth in power to every nation and people for your glory.  Please save multitudes from every tribe and tongue.  Please raise up laborers for the harvest and pour out your Holy Spirit.  Please open doors for the gospel in every nation.  Especially open doors in nations that persecute Christians, like North Korea and China.

Please Holy Spirit, convict multitudes of sin, righteousness and judgment – convict people they are sinners under God’s wrath, that they are unrighteous and need God’s righteousness, and that judgment is coming and they will stand before God.  And open the eyes of multitudes to see Christ as their Savior, who took God’s judgment for them.

Suggestion: Take a few minutes and pray for specific nations or continents, churches in other countries or pastors, missionaries or other laborers you know in other countries.

Thanks for joining us in prayer!

Great post! I love this idea. A couple years ago I took the challenge to pray for an hour a day in the book “The Hour That Changes the World” by Dick Eastman and it has radically changed my life. I need to get back to that daily vibrant prayer. Prayer changes things but it also changes us! https://mobile.twitter.com/PaulWorcester
