Helpful Perspectives on the Election

Al Mohler has provided some helpful perspective in light of Barack Obama being elected as President. He says:

Every American should be moved by the sight of young African-Americans who — for the first time — now believe that they have a purchase in American democracy. Old men and old women, grandsons and granddaughters of slaves and slaveholders, will look to an African-American as President.

Mohler also says:

We must pray that God would change President-Elect Obama’s mind and heart on issues of our crucial concern. May God change his heart and open his eyes to see abortion as the murder of the innocent unborn, to see marriage as an institution to be defended, and to see a host of issues in a new light. We must pray this from this day until the day he leaves office. God is sovereign, after all.

Those who call Jesus their Lord can be filled with a quiet peace and confidence in all seasons. Our Savior is never in the White House. Our Savior is Jesus. We must turn to him with joy and faith. And as we do let’s pray for our new President Elect that God would give him wisdom and grace to lead our nation in the days to come.

Best Free Websites…and Other Stuff

Have you ever had a conversation with someone where you have twelve different, totally unrelated things to tell them? This blog post is kind of like one of those conversations.

Number 1: The Greatest Moments In Sports History contest is going well. I’ve received many submissions and am excited to watch all the great videos. However, there are still many classic moments that have not been submitted. You still have a week to get in your video submissions and possibly win a copy of my book.

Number B: I am loving the website Pandora. It works like this. You type in any song or artist you can think of and within seconds it creates an entire radio station/playlist of similar songs and artists. So for example, you type in “Yanni”, and all of a sudden you’re listening to the greatest hits of John Tesh, Enya, etc. I love websites that provide great free content. If you know of any other great free websites, please let me know in the comments section.

Letter 3: Can someone please explain to me why I should use Twitter? It seems like everybody loves it, but I have trouble seeing it’s usefulness. Do I really want to be telling people what I’m doing at all times? Does anybody really care that much about my life that they want to know when I’m eating a bowl of yogurt and granola while wearing my Crocs? Thoughts?

In my various wanderings about the WWW (that’s shorthand for the World Wide Web), I’ve come across the following interesting links.

A company called Compass Cinema has put out a DVD Bible study tool called Modern Parables, which attempt to bring the parables of Jesus into today’s world. These DVD’s were reviewed very positively by Carolyn McCulley, Justin Taylor, and Tim Challies. You can check out their website by clicking here.
